The problems with this disorder, which is quite varied in individuals, may be due to a defect on the tissue and not the Sympathetic Nervous System. The defect may be in other cells and not just in the capillaries. An example of this would be Urticaria (hives/itching). The increased permeability of vesicles that contain histamine leak, and dextroamphetamine sulfate, decreases the permeability, thus decreasing the leakage.
One patient of Dr. Check's had urticaria very badly and suffered greatly. She was placed on glucocorticoids and antihistamines unsuccessfully. Within one day, just one day on Dextroamphetamine Sulfate, her hives disappeared. She then lost her prescription once and was off the medication. Her symptoms returned fully. In 3 days after being placed back on the Dextroamphetamine Sulfate, all her symptoms resolved.
I have so much new information for you but had to have a revision cervical fusion of C5, C6 (due to car accident years ago). I am reviewing volumes of case studies and printing them out. I intend to have pdf's available to those suffering with this disorder.
Personally, my pain level has diminished since I increased by 10mg a day (I was only on 10mg to begin with) and am functioning better and will start physical therapy in a few weeks. I have learned so much about this disorder and am continuing to learn. The edema is just part of the issue. It is more common in women, but men have this disorder too. It has a strong hereditary component.
This syndrome can be of the Crohn's disease variety, the edema variety, or pelvic pain variety. Be well. More to come soon.
