Dr. Check's wife, a retired nurse, has come out of retirement to handle all the people with this disorder. Dr. Cohen was on vacation so I saw Dr. Check on my last visit. I was first interviewed on how I was doing by a woman I never saw before. It turns out it was Dr. Check's wife checking on my progress and discussing the medication before I saw Dr. Check at the end. She told me she had to come out of retirement due to all the new patients coming in with cyclic edema. So, did this blog bring Mrs. Check out of retirement? I think it has. Dr. Check is up in years and his retired wife who is a nurse is now working to help him with all the patients. His main clientele is infertility and he had some patients with this disorder. Dr. Cohen is there of course and is also treating patients. It just goes to show how this disorder is not rare at all but is grossly under diagnosed. At some point I hope other doctors will take up the cause to help so many people like us that need it.
